Print preparation

Artwork Requirements

Please follow these specs for jackets, gatefolds, inner sleeves, labels and inserts. Files that don't conform can delay your run.

Download Templates

Print templates for each 12″ component. Build your artwork on a separate layer and remove or hide the template layer before submitting.

Templates

  • ▸Download the template for each component you're producing (jacket, gatefold, sleeve, labels, insert) from the section above.
  • ▸Keep the template locked on its own layer and build your artwork on a second layer.

File Submission

  • ▸Remove all templates and guidelines before submitting, or keep them on a separate layer that can be removed at output.
  • ▸Working in Photoshop? Save as PSD.
  • ▸Working in Illustrator? Save as AI.
  • ▸Working in InDesign and sending a press-ready PDF? Hide the template layer before exporting with the “Press Quality” preset.
  • ▸Sending a packaged InDesign file? Use File > Package and include all fonts and links.
  • ▸Only supply files for the products you want produced.

Image Data

  • ▸The GRACoL2006_Coated1v2 color profile is required for correct results.
  • ▸Color images must be CMYK; black-and-white images must be grayscale.
  • ▸RGB files are not accepted.
  • ▸Minimum image resolution is 300 dpi.
  • ▸Include at least 0.125” (3 mm) bleed on all files.
  • ▸Line weights should not be under 0.15 mm positive or 0.25 mm negative.

Fonts

  • ▸In vector files, convert all text to paths.
  • ▸Avoid the bold/italic buttons in your layout program — use the real font styles (e.g. Helvetica Bold, Helvetica Italic).
  • ▸No type under 5 pt / 1.75 mm positive, or 7 pt / 2.27 mm negative.

Proofs

  • ▸Proof files of all graphics are supplied for your approval.
  • ▸Raise any changes or issues before sending your approval.
  • ▸Once proofs are approved, no further graphic changes are possible.

Liability & Archiving

  • ▸We're not liable for production issues caused by non-conforming files that don't meet these specs.
  • ▸Send copies of your files, never originals — supplied files are deleted automatically six months after production.
